The "Almost Famous" Empire RecordsđŸ’œ

Updated: Nov 20, 2020

🎬Moviez That Rock 🎾

The Empire Records and Almost Famous, Both films are Very Different , different storylines, different characters, different settings, Even the time these movies are taken place is in a different Decade, but then again there are the similarities. Music and it’s Involvement with the film stands out the most, not just being used as some background tune that will entice the mood of the scenes. This brings music and its History on screen, The History it may remain, of the Rock Era in the 70'S or stepping foot in a Record Store...

Movie Rantz

Beginning with the basic storylines, Almost Famous takes place in the early 1970's the film revolves around an upcoming Rock Band called 'Stillwater' that are fortunate to be on their way to reach Stardom. Yet there are the differences in the band , different feelings , The outlook on where they will end up, Insecurities, and inexperienced ways of handling things that soon star to bring conflict. It becomes questionable If their still going to be a band that can stick together or make it through this Tour together. Then there is a more simple approach to Empire Records this takes place in the 90's at a Record Store that High School teens all work at. Like most Teens and Teen Movies, Empire Records revolve around these teen characters with their own disadvantages in life that they all are personally Struggling with. Now this is where the films become Identical, each character from both films within their differences in Views, goals etc. begin to cause conflict within the upon one another.

- Corey Mason (Empire Records) and Ms. Penny Lane (Almost Famous)
Two Leading Ladies both Fall in Love with a Musician, Not only love the musician, but loved and Supported their Music. Rockstar Fairy tale led them to go to great lengths to show how much they Loved and Supported these Men, Only to not get the same Love back, or any in in that matter, Both Penny and Corey ended up being treated like an 'Groupie" as if they didn't matter or deserve any kind of appreciation or respect , So they Both ended up getting their heartbroken by these so called "Rockstar's:

- William Turner (Almost Famous) and A.J.(Empire Records)
These 2 Fellas are not anywhere near famous in the films , butt they are definitely Heroic. William and A.J. are the nice guys that finish last, William is in love with Penny, and A.J. is in Love with Corey, secretly in love with the Women that were in love with the Musicians, Both William and A.J.'s timing with confessing their love to these women was definitely at a bad time.
-Dick Roswell. And Lucas Rory Cochrane
The Complete lack of knowledge and responsibility takes a financial toll on the others in their group and their own reputation. Dick Roswell(Almost Famous) who was the Manager of Stillwater did not handle the Finances, or much of anything at all correctly which put the Band in Financial Debt and a delay on their Gigs. Then Lucas (Empire Records) Stole the Deposit money from the store that Joe (Store Manager)Trusted him to close up. Lucas meant well, but Only if it would have ended well. He Ended up losing every cent from Gambling which caused a huge financial loss and a loss of having any more fun at Empire Records, because MUSIC TOWN was about to take over. DAMN IT LUCAS!!!

Debra "Empire Records"

PENNY LANE- "ALMOST FAMOUS"

-Suicide Attempt and Near Death Confessions-
Debra (Empire Records) Attempted to Commit suicide by slitting her wrist because she was suffering from Depression and Loneliness, Ms. Penny Lane almost Overdosed on Pills after Russell Broke her heart.
The Teen Group of The Empire Record store put together a fake funeral for Debra, During this time each character began to confess their Fears what they were struggling with. As for the Band Stillwater, During their flight over to their NeXT location to play another gig. Took a terrifying turn when the plane hit a bad storm and the plane was about to crash. This is probably the darkest yet humorous part of the film, because the Harsh and shocking truth is revealed. Every character on that plane had something guilty to confess and it all came out, even the truth that comes “ out of the closet.

So now you know the" Basic About" each Film. Let's talk MUSICđŸŽ”
So what I loved most about each film is that they used well known songs that fit the story the scenes with use of different music genres that clashed very well together.

For example:

đŸ’œEmpire Records 🎾 \ Almost Famous

80's pop English Rock

90's grunge Punk

Alternative Rock

Ska Pop

Metal Heavy Metal

-These two Movies took me Back , Back to the years I would have loved to be Around, The 70's when Rock was really at it's Prime, There was Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, , David , Bowe , Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, and etc.
By the time I was old enough to appreciate Rock-n-toll , I would have to head to The Record Store and buy there Albums along with , some Grunge and Alternative Band s Like, Nirvana, Hole, ,Pearl Jam, and Some 80's Hit band like Dire Straits,, Billy Idol etc. You can find all different types of Music Genres in one place, The once upon a time a teen Go To Happy Place.
Rock -N-Roll is not the same as it was before , Record Stores are practically Extinct, but both Rock-n-Roll and The placer that homed the greatest albums are Legendary. Music is immortal, it has been around through the greatest and stuck around to get everyone through the worst. Just as it did for Everyone at the Empire Records. The Buzz that Rock-N-Roll kept "Stillwater'' Rocking
